Elviras Taqueria

Been looking for a true street tacos place in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area and this is it. Definitely coming back. Update July 2025: they recently remodeled. The food is still fantastic. However, they’re catering more to their bar area than the customers dining on tables. Their service is very very slow now. The waitress looks lost and takes forever to take your drink order and then your food order and then to bring your bill. It used to be a great place to go for lunch but now you’re sitting there forever waiting for service.

I had never wanted to do a review, but I think there are several aspects to consider if you decide to eat in this place. I have two different experiences now with the remodeling of their bar. Let's start with the food: it's still the same as before, excellent Mexican flavor and essence, great dishes and good price, the most authentic food. We continue with the service: I have returned to this place two times, they took a long time to bring my food to the table and there were not many people. I don't know if it's because of the waitresses or the cooks. As I said, I have had two experiences, one with one of the girls that makes you feel at home, and another totally different that gives a completely unpleasant vibe to the place. Finishing with the atmosphere: the staff has a lot to do in food places, the atmosphere has completely changed since they have the bar, it is full of drunks and with the waitress screaming everywhere it seems that I went to eat in a club and not at Elvira's restaurant.

Delicious! I had shrimp tacos and they were amazing! We also got all sorts of meat tacos and all were great! Nice people, authentic music

Food was okay nothing really special about it like a little bit of flavor in my opinion and still overpriced

I was driving around, craving tacos and this was the first place that pop up on my GPS. First off, this place tacos are cheaper then place that have Taco Tuesday specials, so you can eat tacos any day of the week for cheap. The tacos are delicious each with its unique flavor profile. I enjoy the cabeza, and birria ones. They have over 7 different ones to chose from, something for everyone. If you order 2 of the Queso birria tacos you get some free consomé. If you near the area, and craving some authentic Mexican food, come support this local business. The staff are friendly and They even have menudo. Tell them Simon sent you. This place get my stamp of approval.

This became my favorite Mexican place since I discovered or a few weeks ago. I think I am in a mission to try everything on their menu. So far I am highly impressed with their quesabirria tacos, cabesa tacos and shrimp in Diablo sauce.

This spot is solid. The salsas are really good, and the carne asada had a nice little char that hit just right. I got the carne asada quesadilla and loaded fries (no pico), and everything was super tasty. Service was quick and the staff was chill. I’ll definitely be back!
